I offer hands-on digital product design – including UX design, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and product management – across all major digital platforms, including iOS, Android, and web.

I am selective with my clients, but if you need a highly senior, versatile, and reliable designer able to hit aggressive goals with little supervision, I might be a good fit.

I’m particularly excited by projects that involve emerging technology (AI, wearables, conversational and voice/sound interfaces, TV apps), projects with positive social impact (designing machine morality, user safety and privacy), and the sport industry.

I’m happy to work with teams anywhere in the world, either on-site (subject to visas) or remotely. I prefer short-term engagements of up to six weeks at a time.

Why me?

I’m fortunate enough to have a global reputation in my field, and my fifteen years of experience makes me a senior member of the UK community. I’ve worked with a wide range of companies including:

I’m particularly strong in Agile environments and when collaborating with skilled product and engineering leaders. I have deep experience of remote/distributed design teams, and have developed fine communication skills through my public speaking and writing.

Why not me?

I’ve also been around long enough to know what doesn’t suit.

I focus solely on projects that interest me and align with my ethical principles. Projects taken just for the money are never worth it for either side. Gambling, retail, cryptocurrencies, and content-driven website projects usually aren’t for me. Experience has also taught me that early-stage startups tend not to be a good fit.

I know the methods and value of user research well, but I’m not a specialist researcher. I’ll be happy to help you kickstart a research programme, but I’m not the right person to run that research long-term.

My experience and reputation also mean I’m more expensive than my peers. If your project doesn’t need my level of seniority, I may be able to connect you with someone who will do an excellent job cheaper than I can.
